About tripcalc.io
1,580 free travel calculators for every country, currency and major city on Earth. Built by travelers, for travelers.
Published independently — no analytics, no ad cookies, no tracking walls.
Our Mission
Travel planning is full of small, fiddly calculations — how much to tip in Japan, what visa a Brazilian needs for Vietnam, whether a carry-on fits on Ryanair, how jet lag will hit flying from New York to Tokyo. Instead of googling each one and reading a blog post, tripcalc.io puts a dedicated, instant calculator in front of you.
Every calculator is built around a real dataset — actual exchange rates, country tipping customs, city coordinates, airline baggage allowances — and every page lays out the formula, the source and the worked examples behind its answer, so you get a number you can check rather than a guess.
Calculators for 90+ countries across all six continents.
Built for outbound travelers from the US, UK, EU, JP, KR, AU, CA, AE, IL and beyond.
JSON-LD, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, HowTo, WebApplication.
100% free, no accounts, no paywalls, no tracking walls.
Pages pre-render for instant load; currency and weather fetch live data on the fly.
Every formula and dataset is documented — see exactly how each number is computed.
How we build calculators
Every one of the 1,580 tools follows the same four-step process, so results stay consistent and trustworthy.
Step 1: Curate datasets
We start from real datasets — exchange rates, country tipping customs, city coordinates, airline baggage rules — sourced from public references.
Step 2: Model formulas
Each calculator encodes a transparent formula you can inspect and adjust, from great-circle distance to jet-lag recovery days.
Step 3: Write unique guides
Every tool ships with a unique guide, FAQs and worked examples — no boilerplate recycled across pages.
Step 4: Review & update
We revisit rates, fees and rules periodically and refresh the underlying data so estimates stay useful.
TripCalc is built and maintained by an independent developer who got tired of re-deriving the same handful of numbers before every trip — tipping percentages, visa fees, jet-lag recovery days — and decided each one deserved a proper calculator. The library was built one dataset at a time, writing down every formula and source as it went. Between new tools, the existing ones are audited against official sources. The project is operated anonymously — the work and the numbers are the identity.

TripCalc is funded entirely by travel-booking commissions: when you book through our embedded Kayak widgets, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. No ad networks, no paid placements — affiliate relationships are disclosed on our /disclosures page, and commissions never influence how we calculate.

Methodology & Data
Currency exchange rates on our converter pages are live, fetched hourly from open.er-api.com (no API key required). Weather readings pull live from Open-Meteo. Visa fees, hotel prices, fuel costs, train fares and baggage rules are indicative figures compiled from public sources and updated periodically — accurate for planning, but always verify against official sources before transactions, since visa fees change, fuel prices move weekly, and airline baggage rules get rewritten quarterly.
For the latest authoritative data, consult your destination country's official immigration site, your bank's live FX rate, and your airline's current contract of carriage.
Dig deeper: the full data provenance lives in our methodology, how content is created and corrected is in our editorial policy, and wrong figures can be reported via our contact page.
