1. The short version
TripCalc is free to use, and we fund it with a single revenue stream: travel-booking commissions from Kayak. When you book a hotel or flight through one of our embedded widgets or links, Kayak may pay us a commission — at no extra cost to you. That is the whole model. No subscriptions, no paid listings, no hidden placements.
2. Commissions from Kayak
Some pages embed Kayak widgets or link to Kayak search results. If you complete a booking after clicking through, TripCalc may earn a commission from Kayak. The price you pay is the same either way — the commission comes out of the partner's margin, not your fare.
3. Prices and availability come from Kayak, not us
Prices, availability and inventory shown inside our booking widgets are served live by Kayak. TripCalc does not sell travel, does not price rooms or flights, and cannot guarantee any fare or rate displayed in a widget. Whatever a widget shows, the final price is what you see at checkout on the partner's own site.
4. Commissions never affect our outputs
Every calculator result — budgets, currency conversions, tipping, distances, visa costs — is computed from the documented formulas in our methodology. Affiliate relationships play no part in any formula, and no commission arrangement can reorder or re-rank results you see in our tools. Where a page shows ranked data (rankings, comparisons), the ordering comes from the dataset alone.
5. No sponsored listings or paid placements
We do not sell sponsorships, featured placements, reviews, or “preferred partner” positions anywhere on the site. Nobody can pay TripCalc to appear in a calculator, ranking, comparison or guide.
6. How our search handoff works
Our search forms are first-party — no third-party frames run on this site. Submitting a search sends you through our own redirect to a partner booking site in a new tab; that partner then operates under its own policies. We earn a commission when those searches lead to bookings, at no extra cost to you. Read more in our privacy policy.
7. Questions
If anything here is unclear, see how we compute our numbers in the methodology, or check our editorial policy. For booking-specific issues — prices, cancellations, refunds — contact the partner you booked with (Kayak or the provider inside the widget), as they hold your reservation. kayak.com
