1. How our content is created

TripCalc publishes 6,000+ calculators, so the content is built in two layers. First, a human curates and documents the datasets — tipping customs, visa fees, cost models, baggage rules — and defines the formula each calculator runs (see our methodology). Second, the pages themselves — copy, FAQs, worked examples — are generated programmatically from those curated datasets and formulas, then pass through a human review process for accuracy and clarity before and after publication.

In plain terms: the numbers are computed from documented data, and the words are drafted by tooling and reviewed by a person. No page publishes a figure that its dataset does not support.

2. Corrections policy

Spotted a wrong number, fee or rule? Email corrections@tripcalc.io and include:

  • the URL of the page,
  • the figure that is wrong, and
  • your source for the correct one (official site, receipt, etc.).

We check every report against the source provided. When a figure is genuinely wrong, we fix the dataset or formula — which corrects every affected page at once — and note material corrections on our updates page. We do not quietly overwrite material errors.

3. No fabricated claims

Figures on TripCalc are computed, not surveyed — we never invent sources. If a calculator says a mid-range day in a country costs $X, that number is the output of the documented cost model applied to a documented dataset. We do not cite studies we have not read, invent statistics, attribute quotes, or present generated text as expert opinion. Where a figure is an estimate, we label it as one, and where we do not know, we say so.

4. Independence from revenue

Our only revenue is travel-booking commissions from Kayak, as disclosed in full on our affiliate disclosure. Affiliate links never influence calculator outputs, datasets, formulas, or the ordering of any ranking or comparison on this site. No one can pay to appear in, or to change, a result.

5. Scope & age of the site

TripCalc went live in August 2026. The site is new, its datasets are audited on a schedule (see methodology), and everything material we change is recorded on updates. Treat every figure as a planning estimate and verify what matters before you spend money.
