Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-30 · Effective immediately
1. Overview & Core Philosophy
At TripCalc (accessible at tripcalc.io), we believe travel planning tools should be accessible, instantaneous, and strictly privacy-preserving. We design our systems to minimize data exposure by default.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Unlike traditional travel agencies and planning portals, TripCalc does not:
- Collect names, contact details, or billing information.
- Store your financial budget inputs, itineraries, or search inputs in remote databases.
- Sell, rent, or trade your personal data with third-party data brokers or marketing firms.
3. Technical Logs & Anonymized Metrics
When you visit TripCalc, standard web server infrastructure automatically records technical log entries necessary for routing, security, and uptime monitoring. These logs may include:
- Anonymized IP addresses (masked for general regional diagnostics).
- Browser user-agent and device classification (desktop vs. mobile).
- Requested URLs, timestamps, and HTTP response status codes.
These logs are used strictly for DDoS mitigation, load balancing, and debugging system errors, and are purged on automated rolling retention cycles.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
TripCalc sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. The only cookie-style storage we write is a functional UI-state preference (light/dark mode) plus the LocalStorage features below.
TripCalc uses modern browser LocalStorage strictly for functional client-side features, such as remembering your preferred UI color theme (light/dark mode) and temporarily holding your recently viewed calculators in your own browser cache.
We remember your last currency pair on this device (localStorage) — clearable anytime.
We do not deploy cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear your browser storage at any time with zero impact on calculator functionality.
5. Third-Party Integrations & Public APIs
To supply live currency exchange rates and weather conditions, our servers interact with public datasets (such as open.er-api.com and Open-Meteo). Client requests are routed through cached server-side microservices so your direct device IP is not transmitted to external rate providers.
6. Outbound Partner Links
Our search forms are built and hosted by TripCalc — we do not embed third-party frames. When you submit a search, we redirect you through our own endpoint to a partner booking site in a new tab. From the moment you land there, that partner is the operator: its own privacy policy governs, and it may set its own cookies or measure its own traffic. TripCalc receives only a click confirmation (timestamp and referrer) for commission accounting — never your activity on the partner site.
On our own pages, TripCalc sets no analytics or advertising cookies — only the UI-state preference described in section 4. We disclose our commercial relationship with our search partner on our affiliate disclosure page.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect infrastructure enhancements or regulatory updates. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated timestamp.
8. Contact & Inquiries
For questions regarding our privacy practices or technical architecture, review our About & Methodology page or connect with us via our official platform channels.
