Frontier Airlines (F9) Baggage Allowance Calculator

Carry-on rules on Frontier Airlines (F9): no formal weight cap, dimensions not exceeding 61×41×25 cm (L×W×H). Even without a weight cap, Frontier Airlines uses sizers at the gate — if your bag doesn't fit 61×41×25 cm, it's tagged for the hold.

Frontier is ultra-low-cost — the cabin bag (~24×16×10 in) is a paid option, and only a personal item (18×14×8 in) is free. A purse or laptop bag rides inside the underseat allowance on Frontier Airlines — it does not stack a third bag on top.

Checked baggage on Frontier Airlines (F9): each bag can weigh up to 23 kg, $30 USD per bag. Additional bags cost $50 USD each on Frontier Airlines; bag dimensions should total no more than 158 cm (62 in) linear — most standard suitcases comply.

Pre-book the first checked bag on Frontier Airlines online; counter pricing is significantly higher. Overweight pricing runs $10/kg past 23 kg either way.

Excess pricing on Frontier Airlines (F9): $50 per extra bag, $10/kg over 23 kg — the calculator multiplies both for your group. Compare strategies before paying: a second 18 kg bag at $50 often beats $10/kg overweight on one heavy case — the calculator tests both configurations for Frontier Airlines (F9).

Repack before you pay: splitting weight across two bags at $50 each frequently undercuts overweight fees on Frontier Airlines, and online pre-booking undercuts the counter by 40–60%.

Skis, golf clubs and boards on Frontier Airlines each need a paid sports-equipment slot booked in advance; bicycles sit outside the allowance entirely and must ship as cargo. Guitars and cellos are the awkward case on Frontier Airlines: either buy them a seat or check them in a hard case — soft cases are not covered for damage.

Assistive devices are always free on Frontier Airlines (F9): wheelchairs, scooters and walkers are accepted at the gate and returned aircraft-side wherever feasible.
