Turkish Airlines (TK) Baggage Allowance Calculator

Carry-on rules on Turkish Airlines (TK): 8 kg maximum, dimensions not exceeding 55×40×23 cm (L×W×H). The 8 kg carry-on weight limit on Turkish Airlines is enforced at check-in and at the gate — leave a little room for purchases.

In addition to the main carry-on, Turkish Airlines allows one personal item under the seat — the usual place for valuables, electronics and medications.

The checked allowance on Turkish Airlines is 30 kg per standard bag — bag-inclusive fares are one of this carrier's quiet value levers. Additional bags cost $70 USD each on Turkish Airlines; bag dimensions should total no more than 158 cm (62 in) linear — most standard suitcases comply.

Turkish Airlines includes the first checked bag — a differentiator on longer trips. Overweight pricing runs $10/kg past 30 kg either way.

Turkish Airlines charges $70 USD per additional checked bag beyond the first, and $10 USD per kilogram over the 30 kg limit. A 28 kg bag on Turkish Airlines's 30 kg allowance costs $0 in overweight charges alone — the table below compares that against simply adding a second bag at $70.

Repack before you pay: splitting weight across two bags at $70 each frequently undercuts overweight fees on Turkish Airlines, and online pre-booking undercuts the counter by 40–60%.

Turkish Airlines treats sports equipment — skis, snowboards, golf clubs, surfboards, bicycles — as standard checked bags within the 30 kg weight limit, subject to the same per-bag fee. Instruments under 8 kg and within carry-on dimensions may travel in the Turkish Airlines cabin; larger instruments need either a bought seat or checked handling — Turkish Airlines recommends hard-shell cases and a declaration at check-in.

Pack fragile and valuable items carefully — Turkish Airlines's liability for damage to improperly packed special items is limited, and hard-shell cases settle most disputes before they start.
